The Kohala Foundation is a private operating foundation that develops and promotes business solutions for social issues. They help businesses form genuine and meaningful partnerships with local nonprofit organizations.

HIS has partnered with The Kohala Foundation to raise awareness of their “Dollar Plus" Hotel-Driven Guest Giving System.

The mission of “Dollar Plus” is to leverage the hotel lobby and staff, enhance the guest experience, and raise funds for (and awareness of) local solutions to social problems. The program raises funds for--and awareness of--local safety net solutions...while building guest and employee loyalty.

Since 1993, HIS has participated in the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure bicycle ride to raise funds for diabetes research. Team HIS is the most-tenured team at the Napa event, having raised over $175,000. Last year, our team had 44 riders and came in 5th place (out of over 150 teams) in overall fundraising.

Last year, more than 32,000 cyclists in 78 Tour events nationally raised nearly $13 million to support the mission of the ADA: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

Our 2009 ride will take place in the Napa Valley on Sunday, May 3, 2009.

Christmas for Everyone is a non-profit volunteer organization serving people in need during the Christmas season in Contra Costa County. Their goal is that no one spends Christmas alone.

For 22 years, CFE has been helping the working poor in Contra Costa County. They work with several service agencies to provide help to as many families as possible.

Ownership, management & staff of Team HIS has been actively involved with CFE for the past several years. Our responsibilities include managing the scheduling of over 250 volunteers and operating the kitchen output on Christmas Day which feeds over 3,500 people, including the homebound.

The Heart Walk is a nationwide campaign to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and empower men and women with the knowledge they need to take charge of their health. On September 18th, more than 80 corporations located in the heart of San Francisco will join forces as they take steps to save lives.

This event emphasizes the importance of walking as a heart healthy exercise. More than 100 corporations located in the heart of San Francisco will join forces to raise funds to help the American Heart Association in its fight against heart disease and stroke.

Since 1987, AIDS Walk San Francisco has raised nearly $70 million for HIV programs and services in the Bay Area. For 22 years, the event has been a model of cost-effective fundraising and extraordinary community activism.

In 2008 alone, 25,000 participants, many of whom were members of more than 900 corporate and community teams, raised a near record sum of $4.5 million for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and 58 Bay Area HIV/AIDS organizations.

Toys for Tots is the Marine Corps' premier community action program, one of the nation's flagship charitable endeavors, an American tradition and a national treasure.

For over half of a century, Marines have been the unchallenged leaders in looking after needy children at Christmas. The Toys for Tots message of hope for the future has motivated youngsters to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.

Toys for Tots is one vehicle for addressing the issue of poverty among children.
